An Afternoon Away!

Image
I've been stressed lately...about numerous things... Thanks to friends and fam for letting me vent over the past few days! Yesterday, I was without Paige for most of the day and enjoyed an afternoon I so desperately needed: 1. Lunch with old coworkers from Boeing 2. Afternoon Mariner's Game with Chris and PERFECT weather 3. Pedicure for my neglected toes I can no longer maintain After getting home, making dinner, and getting Paige in bed, I dove into my newest novel and read until I fell asleep. And today as I've been on the phone most of the morning, I'm wishing I could do yesterday again...Sigh...

More Weddings!!

j a i m e & j o n 0 8 . 1 5 . 0 8 s e a t t l e , w a Friday night Chris and I attended the wedding of my high school friend, Jaime. It was without a doubt the most beautiful scenery I've EVER seen for a wedding. It was right on the west side of Lake Washington at the Seattle Tennis Club. It had a spectacular view of Bellevue, Mercer Island, etc. It was absolutely gorgeous and the weather, although hot, was perfect! The wedding was lovely and it was fun to catch up and visit with old friends! Jaime was breathtaking and belongs in a wedding magazine! Her and Jon are such a wonderful couple...so happy!! Do you see what I'm talking about!?...breathtaking (both the scenery and the bride)! CR Chiefs...class of '99 (Tim, Beth, Mike, Jaime, Me, Brooke, Aaron) The girls (And yes, I'm wearing the same dress I've worn at EVERY OTHER wedding this summer. Another thing to add to the list of pregnancy woes!)

Paige's Big Girl Room

Image
It's finally done! It's been one week since completion and the transition is going well for Paige. We did not move the lock from her previous room to this door, so we've been battling the "stay in your bed" thing. For the most part Paige has given up naps opting for "quiet time". She is an exhausted little girl when 8pm rolls around...which helps her going to bed. It's hard to tell in the pics, but the wall color is light blue. I have changed her window panels since these pics were taken. I ended up with dark pink panels instead of the sheer, which I'm liking a lot more since it contrasts well with the light blue. Here is the before and after...this room was our guest room beforehand. I painted and added hardware to the dresser. The entire room re-org was an exhausting project, but I'm happy with the final result, especially seeing how delighted Paige has been with it all! BEFORE: AFTER: (Same angle. Again, the panels are now a coordinating p...

Computer on Life Support

Okay...I've been blogging a lot lately...but that is probably soon coming to a halt. Our home computer is on life support. This was my only link to friends/fam! We headed to Fry's Friday night to buy new parts...with as much as we spent, we could have bought a cheap computer! Friday night the process started and as of right now there are parts strewn galore all over my loft, my husband isn't in the best mood, and I have no idea what's going on. I am sneaking a little time on my husband's laptop to post this. My husband has assured me ALL my pics, docs, money, etc. are saved on the external hard drive we bought on Friday. It's quite a small box...please pray for this box...I might have a nervous breakdown and simultaneously go into labor if all is lost!

Mom!

Recently, I have been acutely aware of how much my little Paige is growing up. Maybe it is because we are prepping for Baby #2, or maybe it's just because she's approaching three year-old status, but whatever it is, Paige is becoming more of a big girl every day. Here are some things I've been thinking about: I've decided it's a big deal when your child stops saying, "Mommy" and "Daddy" and instead uses the much more mature "Mom" and "Dad". And most often it's said with an exclamation point and includes a bit of attitude. She even spouts out a "cerise" or "cwis" when those don't work. While traveling home on the plane from Sacramento last week I had a moment to look at our little family and reflect: Chris - dozing off listening to podcasts; Me - drinking a much-needed Diet Coke and reading; and little Paige - watching Mickey Mouse on my iPod, eating a snack and managing her drink all alone. The...

Post-Wedding Festivities: San Fran, Oakland, etc.

Image
We decided to make a small vacation out of our trip to Sacramento for Matt and Dani's wedding. We enjoyed some wonderful time with Uncle Lane and Aunt Roxcy and their adorable Joci. Chris and Lane are a year apart and grew up together, so spending time together is very similar to being with one of Chris' siblings. Paige loved playing with Joci and feeding the goats in their backyard. Thanks, Roxcy, for hosting us despite our "spontaneous" plans! Paige and Joci (Sidenote on my toddler: she is really into curlers lately...they went a little awry this day!) We also headed down to San Francisco to enjoy the city by the bay and were pleased to share our mini-trip with Chris' parents and sisters...especially with the stress of the wedding behind everyone. We took in Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, the Sea Lions, the Aquarium, ate amazing sourdough bread (I am such a CARB lover!), Lombard Street (the "crooked" street), and the Golden Gate Bridge. T...

The Happy Couple!

Image
Matthew & Danielle 08.01.08 Sacramento LDS Temple It was a crazy two days back and forth between Sacramento (where our hotel and the temple were located) and Marysville (where we had the wedding dinner and wedding reception), but it was a happy occasion and joyous celebration. We are so happy to have Dani in our family...it is nice to share the daughter-in-law title with someone else! ;) With all the driving, Chris and I enjoyed time to reminisce about our own wedding. It was fitting, especially as we approach our seven-year anniversary in a month. It's so wonderful to see this couple enjoy those fresh, sweet, new beginnings of marriage and we wish them joy and happiness on their road to eternity! Apken family

What to do...

We are HOME from our Sacramento and San Francisco trip (we crawled in to bed around 1am this morning). It was a whirlwind four days with LOTS of driving, but enjoyable and fun. We were glad to see Uncle Matt (Chris' baby brother) married to Danielle...who knew he could get such a great catch. So...now, after sleeping in this morning, I feel a bit overwhelmed with my "to do" list and am not quite sure where to start. I need to obviously buy milk...Paige said she doesn't like cereal without milk. But Paige's new room is still calling with a few projects, there are suitcases to unpack, my Money needs to be updated, my bathrooms cleaned...and "Breaking Dawn" just sits...haunting me. I know once I start, I won't be able to stop. This is my Monday morning dilemma...things could certainly be worse. Where to start... I'll post pics from our fun trip soon!
