New School Year

Image
And just like that, Wednesday, August 29th arrived and the girls were back to school! The 7th and 8th graders have late arrival on the first day of school, so Paige was home when the middle girls left. She is the sweetest...instead of sleeping in, she got up and got ready with them so she could see them off.  Little Meg wasn't so sure about the girls leaving her and the adjustment was a little abrupt. She was missing her "grills" all day. "Where are my grills?!" These two...almost the same height, same size of clothes and shoes. Finley - 2nd grade with Mrs. Hurst, Brynn - 4th grade with Ms. Shioyama Their BFFs all at the bus stop! Two hours later this girl was off! 7th grade with a slew of teachers we don't know. She was super excited for ASB this year! We do a neighborhood carpool for the middle school (and avoid the bus when we can). This trio is too cute...and looking so grown up. Poor Robby (not pictured), is...

Downtown Seattle Adventure

Two days before school started we embarked on our last day of fun exploring downtown Seattle. The weather was too good to pass up and sometimes I get up the gumption to tackle the insanity of the city and have to roll with it while I have it. We parked near Pacific Place and took the monorail down to Seattle Center.   The playground and International Fountain have been on my bucket list with the kids for a number of years. I was so glad to tackle them and cross them off the list!  Meg had zero reservations about climbing the tube ladder and joining her sisters. You can see her below well in to the rafters... We had lunch on the grass outside the food court area, with amazing views of the needle.   Then walked down to the International Fountain. I was considering throwing in the girls' swimsuits but then decided it was too chilly. But in the end, I was wishing we had them. The weather turned warm and my girls were tempting the water maste...

Summer Honorable Mentions - Part 2

Image
We paid for a pool membership this summer and I'm so glad we did! The girls improved so much in their swimming and diving. I was really proud of them! Meg was so super comfortable in the water too, and would often be without her puddle jumper jacket. She loved jumping off the side to Chris or I, and swimming under the water to us. A total fish! But she made up for her love of the water with moments of irrationality. Towards the middle of the summer she started hating to have a wet diaper. She would ask me to change her immediately after she would pee and say, "I pee-ded. Change me." This is hard at the pool because she would get so upset when she would pee in her swim diaper and I didn't change it. I went through a zillion diapers/swim diapers at the pool, constantly changing her to meet her demands. I didn't want to potty train her until school started, so I kept putting her off (I finally trained her in late September and she was my easiest by far).  ...
