Girls? Hair loss? What?

Image
You'd think with a household of girls we wouldn't have problems keeping our hair.  Unfortunately, hair is a real problem at the moment.  Paige cut both her and Brynn's hair a few weeks ago.  This is what I found on the floor while I thought they were cleaning up the toys: Imagine my moment of clarity when I realized what this really was.  I immediately ran to Brynn...the locks on the top of her head...gone.  Sad sad day.  It's hard to get a pic, but here's a try: Right there, just between the crown of her head and where bangs would potentially start is where the cutting took place. She had LONG hair there prior to the incident.  The one below shows the balding area a bit better. Do you see it?  See those nice long bangs in the front...then a wasteland of stubs...then the hair on the crown? A few tears were shed, someone was in time out, and that someone still does not have scissor privileges. I didn't notice this until the next mornin...

Just another day...

Finding joy in the little things.  Gosh, aren't girls fun !

There goes my sanity...

As if I wasn't already feeling like NOTHING in this house can be ONLY mine, it's now worse.  Brynn's plans  can no longer be frustrated even by doors.   Examples: my glasses were in with Paige's tea set yesterday (good thing I searched for them with contacts still in) and my scriptures were under her bed.  The pantry is a different story and the reason my children binge on marshmallows while I'm in the shower.

Announcing....

Check out my latest project. I have started a NEW blog. Its focus is political. Don't laugh...I'm TOTALLY serious. I started the blog mostly for moms wanting to stay informed on the political environment, but have little time for loads of research. But it could be for anyone...anyone who cares to read it! It won't contain insane amounts of political jargon and analysis, but more like snippets of political happenings. It will be ME sharing what I deem important as a CONSERVATIVE mom. http://piecesofconservatism.blogspot.com

Countdown to 2010

Image
While the hubster and BIL, Trevor, attended the UW basketball game on New Year's Eve, my sister and I got the party started. She brought her kiddos to my house and we partied until the men joined us later (with Cheesecake in tow). We had finger foods with the kids and some Guitar Hero and Super Mario (my niece is really good at Mario). We had a 'kids' countdown around 10pm...after which some finally called it quits and fell asleep. The girls, Paige and Addy, held out until after 2AM. They are two peas in a pod and total night owls! It's hard to believe it's 2010!! Happy New Year, All!

New Years Eve Snow

Image
On New Years Eve Chris took us all up to find the snow. Paige loved it. Brynn not so much. Think Randy from A Christmas Story... "I can't put my arms down!" Plus, it started to snow pretty heavily and she didn't like the snow in her face (but I didn't either, so I can't blame her on that one). But she's an adorable pink marshmallow, am I right?! I'm still trying to convince myself the 2-hr round-trip drive, 30-minutes to dress and undress, and the mounds of laundry this trip involved, was worth the 40 minutes we lasted outside. All in the name of family fun, right?!

Christmas is (errr...was) HERE!!!

Image
The build-up was worth it; we enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed both the giving and receiving. Here are pics from the morning... Paige - first thing she checks out is Santa's cookies and the carrot remnants from the reindeer. Cool! Stockings always seem to include something practical yet irresistible! Dental Hygienist Aunt Dani would be proud! Paige's wish was granted! She got a guitar and rocked out all morning long! Tea set from Grandma, gotta love the new snow hat too! (which was put to good use just a few days later...post coming soon) One of Brynn's top gifts...sparkly, shiny pink shoes. What girl wouldn't want these!!! She wore them all morning. More cookie cutters than any two girls could ever want! I better start freezing sugar cookie dough on a regular basis so we can get all of them used! At the end of the day, trying to get a pose with all their gifts. Paige is hiding a few, but hopefully it's enough for us to remember years down the road...

Christmas Eve

Image
We drove down the freeway to party at sis Rochelle's house for Christmas Eve. My whole fam was together except for Camille (she was in Hawaii, boo hoo for her). We had a great crowd!! Agenda items included: out for breakfast, decorating cookies for Santa, and the must-see Dalley Christmas Program. The kids sang, we acted out the Christmas Nativity in full costume, a few games, PJs, and stories. It was soooo fun. Enjoy the pics! Paige decorating cookies. And unlike her fascination with painting her ornament (see previous post), this did not hold her attention and she lasted about a minute and a half. Oh well. Sweet nephew Ty And adorable Caden This was a vocal ensemble singing of "When Christmas Comes to Town" from The Polar Express. Carson and Addy both had solo parts, but they were troopers because Ty and Paige just couldn't NOT be part of the singing! As part of our live nativity Paige was assigned the all important task of the angel. And in true Paige fashi...

Why are you not tired!?

PaigeL's Status: (Note: over the last two months, she decided the world was completely unjust because she does not have an "L" in her name. So she tacked one on the end and asked me to call her PaigeL...as in, it rhymes with dreidel. She is faithful in keeping the "L" on the end EVERY time she writes her name...she never forgets it!) Now on to my original intent in posting... 11:19 pm...she is in bed, but still awake She's singing, " Frosty the Snowman " and " Santa Claus is Comin' To Town " (her two favorite Christmas songs this year) Last night, she and BFF cousin, Addy, were up with the adults until 2:15 AM When I laid her in bed she said, " But I'm not tired!" Really?! She did sleep in until 10:30 this morning, but how come she is still awake now!! And more importantly, can I get a dose of what she has???
