Meg's Birthday Celebrations

Image
Meg's actual birthday was on Saturday, but we delayed the majority of her celebration until Sunday (too many soccer games and General Women's Conference). That afternoon however, Chris took Meg and Finley to Yakima for the day and Meg enjoyed a special celebration with her Grandma Apken. She and Finley got to frost cupcakes, blow out candles, and play on the swings. Perfect special day for her!  (Silly girl at Brynn's soccer game) Below...frosting enjoyment at Grandma's house. After church on Sunday we had the Dalley family over for a small celebration. Aunt Erin's birthday was the day before Meg's so we wanted to celebrate her birthday too! We had dinner and cupcakes and the kids got to run around and be crazy.  She was pretty spoiled with lots of cards, presents and toys. We were soaking up our time with all the (Seattle) Dalleys together before my sis, Camille, and her family move to Australia. We had a gr...

Meg at age TWO!

Stats: Weight: 24 lbs. (27%) Height: 35.2" (89%) Head: 18 3/4 (54%) All About Meg: She's a talking machine and surprising us every day with what she knows and can verbalize. She can repeat most every single thing I say, says prayers, conducts FHE, and tells her sisters what to do ( "Go away!" "That's my mom!" , etc.) Solid sleeper. Loves her bed mostly because her binky is only allowed in there (with a few exceptions). She says, "I go nigh nigh" in the afternoons when she's starting to get cranky. She loves getting her "jams" on in the evening and prepped for bed. Loves her blankies. She is super attached to all her muslin blankets, but especially one she calls her "Firework" because the pattern resembles fireworks (not really, ha). She wants a "clean blankie" most every day, but instead of trading in a dirty for the clean, she just wants another to keep around. Some days she is carting...

Labor Day - The Boat & The Bulls

Image
Labor Day is one of our favorite weekends of the year! Saturday morning Chris drove the kids to Vantage to play at the lake. I was feeling behind on life and Chris offered to give me the day off at home, which I gladly took! I stayed and re-organized my office from the chaos of summer. My kids used it as a secondary play space for pretend play daily and it was in desperate need of some reorganization. It looked great after my efforts that day! I drove over in the late afternoon and met up with my girls at the Rodeo. Love my cute girls in their hats! We love the fair/rodeo! We ate our yummy dinner, visited the animal booths and headed in for the Extreme Bulls. It was the warmest Bulls event I can remember; it was so pleasant the entire evening. Meg loved everything except the fireworks. She had her hands to her ears and face like this in preparation for the fireworks to go off at any moment. She would wince and close her eyes every time.  Sunday BBQ and relaxation...

New School Year - 2017/2018

Image
The first day of the  new school year came pretty abruptly. Paige started Middle School this year and had to catch the bus at 7:04 AM.  The kids and I hadn't been rolling out of bed til after 9 most of the summer, so my 6:30 AM alarm is a rude awakening. Paige rode the bus the first day just to be familiar with it, but we have a carpool with two of my friends/neighbors each day. The Middle School has a special schedule the first day catering to the sixth graders. While the 7th and 8th graders have a delayed arrival until noon, the sixth graders are put in small groups with 8th grade W.E.B. leaders that help orient them for the first five hours of the day. There were lots of games, social activities and touring around the school and office. She wanted to wear one of her new dress outfits, but the school sent out a notice to save the cute outfit for Day 2 and to wear something comfortable and easy to run around in. I can't believe this girl is in Middle School. So much more...
