Signs of Summer

Image
We've had a GREAT summer...which is one reason I'm behind in my blogging. We are doing more, which requires more naps, which causes later nights. But since the weather's warmed, it's hard not to throw the bedtime schedule and household responsibilites out the window...WAY out the window!  Here are signs we've been enjoying everything summer has to offer: Is this corn hand-shucked? A trip on the Light Rail to dad's office and Toy Story 3. If you haven't seen it, bring tissues. The benefits of a cement slab in your backyard: (You know you live in the NW when your daughter thinks rain boots are worn for more than JUST rain) Paige enjoyed this activity for over an hour and a half.  She wanted every inch of that paper covered...I wonder what that says about her personality? FHE S'mores on the BBQ Not caring that your daughter's hair looks like THIS when you go in public: (cell phone pic) Battle scars from the park. This was after t...

To Infinity...and Beyond?

Part of Paige's prayer tonight: "Dear Heavenly Father Bless that I couldn't say the prayer in primary today. Because I got a little nervous. And bless that mom said it. And so mom gets to sleep with Buzz tonight." Paige was assigned the prayer for Primary today. We practiced a number of times, even with the pretend microphone at home. Because of her shyness, I asked her what she might have as a reward for saying the prayer and we agreed on an ice cream date with dad. But on the other hand...if she totally flaked out and I had to say it for her, she decided she would lose Buzz Lightyear and he would sleep with me instead. It's evident how it turned out. What she doesn't say was that when the time came for the prayer she was completely bawling and crying into my shoulder (I had to hold back my own tears).  I don't know how Chris will feel about this guy sleeping between us... I need to figure out a way for her to earn Buzz back...fast...

L'il Swimmers

Because I constantly feel the need to journal my girls' progress in swim... (of course, they are never both looking) Also, because these were Brynn's first lessons. The outdoor pool (only open in the summer) allowed her into the beginning class. You will notice her hair is dry in most of the pictures. She's like me...it needs to be 80 degrees before swimming becomes a viable entertaining activity...and most mornings it was 20 degrees below that. Paige, on the other hand, had a teacher not afraid to make her work. She made big progress!

Independence Day Weekend

The main events of our 4th of July Celebration weekend included two days at the lake (Daddy joined us for Day #2), and a trip to the Mariner's Game. Lake: Donuts for breakfast, or snack, or whatever. Lake food is yummy! We love Uncle Karl Paige and Aunt Dani diggin' holes We love our new cousin (through marriage), Amber!!!  She is so wonderful to my girls and such a joy to be around.  We can't wait to spend more time with her at our family reunion in August! Mariner's Game: It's impossible to get them both smiling...we were in right field right next to Ichiro.  Apken girls love Ich-i-ro! Best part = the food Here's a rundown of what the girls ate: Hot dogs French fries cotton candy soda M&Ms licorice sunflower seeds veggie sticks (the one healthy thing I brought) Don't be judgin'...we made it through all 10 (chilly) innings and they were happy. She realized wearing her hat backwards was cool. Brynn loved the seagulls...this is her "Oo...
