My contractions never got closer than 12 minutes. This was odd for me. Chris and I went to bed that night thinking they would become more rapid and we would be heading to the hospital, but by 3 AM they were still the same - sometimes only 17-20 minutes apart. I had very little sleep and finally decided to phone the on-call doc. He said to stay home. If they aren't closer than 5 minutes, they would send me home. Boo. Eventually by about 5 AM, they had slowed and I was able to sleep. By the morning, they had subsided completely. I was a little sad. I was ready for this baby to come!
