More Hospital Pics & Going Home

My dear friend, Julie Morgan, had taken Finley and also the older girls once they got off the bus from school. She was kind to bring them to the hospital to meet Meg when she was only about 90 minutes old. Julie told me how they were bursting with excitement at her house knowing the baby had come! Especially Brynn, she said, could not be contained. She was so overjoyed and the most anxious to see the baby. This picture...my oldest and my youngest...my first and my last...it does something to my heart. I just love it. Brynn was the most uneasy about baby #4 and had the most questions about how things would change. But when it happened it seemed pretty seamless for her. She is an amazing big sister. And sweet Finley is at the perfect age to appreciate this baby, be a helper and love on her new baby sister. I love watching Fin with Meg...it's too cute. My amazing mom that helped me survive those last 10 days before Meg came, supported me through the labor ...

Meg - Birth Story Video

Image
I am so grateful to my sister's for being in the delivery room (along with my mom!) and capturing the details of Meg's arrival. And please ignore my very amateur editing skills.

My contractions never got closer than 12 minutes. This was odd for me. Chris and I went to bed that night thinking they would become more rapid and we would be heading to the hospital, but by 3 AM they were still the same - sometimes only 17-20 minutes apart. I had very little sleep and finally decided to phone the on-call doc. He said to stay home. If they aren't closer than 5 minutes, they would send me home. Boo. Eventually by about 5 AM, they had slowed and I was able to sleep. By the morning, they had subsided completely. I was a little sad. I was ready for this baby to come! My first encounter with latent/false labor. It was during this appointment that my doctor scheduled an induction for Thursday, the 24th. I was nervous signing those papers because ...
