Finley Turns 2!

Image
Our sweet Finley turned 2 at the end of March. She is our rough and tumble, full of energy, loud, stubborn, adorable, active girl.  Weight: 29 lbs (75%) Height: 37 inches (97%) Head: 19 inches (75%) (I love comparing my kids' physical stats. Finley has Paige and Brynn by 3 lbs and 3 inches at this age. It is still trending for her to be our tall girl!) We took advantage of the blossoms and sunshine prior to her birthday for a Fin photo shoot. She is definitely not the easiest subject to capture, and after skinning both knees within the first five minutes I was simply grateful for a few wonderful smiles. Because she has such a contagious smile... Here are some wonderful things about Finley at age 2:   She is still super attached to the binky and curtain. I don't mind the curtain, but the bink is on its way out. We have been trying to keep it in her bed, but now she can finagle it out of her bed when she's sad. She will also ask for it wh...

A Visit to Louisiana

Image
I don't usually travel sans husband as I've done the past six months. It just turns out there have been a few "girl" trips colliding together. I've been joking with Chris that people will think we don't like each other since we seem to be spending all our "vacation" time separately this year (he's headed for GYGO in a month). :) I'm so grateful I made the trip to Louisiana to visit my bestest and longest friend, Courtney Richardson. I  haven't been down to see her since 2007, so it was definitely my turn! Courtney is my "person" (a la Grey's Anatomy).  She's the one that knows me and all my history - although it's funny how we forget bits and pieces and the years all seem to melt together. We have grown up together and can laugh at our naivete and immaturity from years ago. It's always so effortless and enjoyable and we laugh and laugh and laugh...it's incredible therapy! After Court picked me up from the ...

St. Patrick's Day

Image
St. Patrick's Day, aka "Green Day", is another fun little holiday the girls enjoy. We've managed to make a few traditions over the years the girls really look forward to.  We were up pretty early because of Stake Conference. The girls had to be dressed and hair done (minus Fin) before the fun could begin. They love the trinkets and treats the leprechaun leaves in their shoes.  Fin of course wanted to dive into the candy right away... Our leprechaun also leaves a fun scavenger hunt. My older girls are beginning to master this and sprint all around the house to get to the next clue.  Yummy treasure! And even when St. Patrick's Day falls on a Stake Conference Sunday, we still make wearing green a priority. Yay for some new clothes from Grandma Dalley that happened to be green for Paige and Fin!  The girls LOVE that I buy Lucky Charms for them on this holiday. Who knew a box of cereal can bring such excitement!!  Fin will eat this for h...

Valentine's Day

Image
It's fun with our little kids to celebrate the little holidays...and while it does take some pre-planning and forethought, I was scrambling a bit since I had just returned home from Arizona. It's always hard fitting in time to make and prepare the valentines for classmates and family members (which went out WAY late in the mail this year). But we managed to squeeze it in...  Brynnie wrote ALL her own Valentine's this year. Such a big-kid moment!! The girls woke up to balloons and valentine's from mom...these balloons were the most awesome toy for one whole month. I love when $1.99 goes so far! I was grateful I had purchased their purses and $1 goodies (thank you, Target) a month earlier.  Valentine's Day was our day to host preschool (we had a three-week session of hosting at our house). We enjoyed celebrating with this wonderful crew of kids!  Decorating their Valentine heart envelopes...  Sorting and counting (and eating hearts)...   T...
