Oh yah! I blog...

My poor blog...nothing exciting to report, other than my blog posts are being replaced by major household "nesting" projects: Kitchen cupboards/pantry de-clutter Game closet & coat closet re-org Bakers rack de-clutter Linen closet de-clutter Filing cabinet clean sweep Archive boxes in the garage clean sweep (the previous two resulting in MAJOR recycling and shredding...still to finish) Switched our banking to a new account New health insurance switch-a-roo Negotiating with Comcast to get our bill cheaper, again  (I HATE doing this!), plus new DVR boxes Switching over to a new computer (the hubby, obviously) - but I have updated all our Money accounts and am switching to Quicken software (still in process). Scrapbook boxes cleaned out (bulk lot about to go on Craigslist) More repairs (locksmith for mailbox, windshield on Tahoe) Brynn's closet de-cluttered (I found the floor!) Organizing every printed photo into ONE place   (they were scattered between a few "orga...

Dalley Girls in San Diego!

Image
This  amazing woman, my mom (and dad, too), made the weekend getaway to San Diego happen. It was a girls-only, sisters, mom/daughters, no kids (except two adorable infants), weekend away... It also happened to coincide with my 30th birthday ... We tried to soak up the almost-80-degree weather as much as possible. Here is our little breakfast cafe. We would eat in the sun and sip Diet Coke. Doesn't that sound like vacation?!  We tried to act like locals (impossible) and took the trolley where we needed to go. (I love my mom laughing in this pic...she's so cute!) Our "touristy" day to Old Town. Erin and I...we weren't really touching the quills on the cactus, except...wait...Erin didn't get that message. Our visit to the Mormon Battalion. I was the lone member who participated in the tour while the others nursed babies and chatted outside. The whole time I was in the tour I kept thinking, " This is sooo what my dad would be doing... "  But it was...

Entry Redo

Image
A lot of the decor in my house is starting to bug me. So during the holidays I decided I was going to change a few things in January. I had it in my head to redo the entryway first. I've hated the paint in there, pretty much since the day I painted it. It seemed like a good place to start. I needed a more neutral wall color and brighter/more colorful accents. Here are some BEFORE and AFTER pics: BEFORE: Looking from the main part of the house: This is where you get the best look at that horrible green. In the natural daylight it doesn't look too bad, but honestly, my entry doesn't get a lot of natural daylight, so it looked bad most of the time. AFTER: The best "down the hallway" pic I took. That bird canvas on the right was my jumping off point. I loved the oranges and greens together. The new true  wall color is best seen by the bird canvas. BEFORE: Walking in the front door, this was to the left: More of that angle: AFTER: Neutral walls...ah, doesn't ...

...must laugh...

Just because it's easier to laugh than cry...here is the list of what's broken in our house the past two weeks...it's starting to scare me...it better stop soon: Dryer (replaced 10 days ago) Vacuum (replaced 9 days ago...this was a HARD decision) Main light fixture in kitchen (yay for a handy husband who stays up late!) Master Bedroom Toilet (the innards needed to be replaced after the tank overflowed) My Tahoe (transmission got stuck ...weird!) My Tahoe windshield has a 3-inch circle crack (thank you giant rock) Ice Maker in fridge won't stop making ice (imminent call to Sears) Portable DVD player (courtesy of my 2-yr old - they don't deserve another one) Shredder (grrr...the piles will have to wait!) Humidifier (right when I needed it!) Computer (it's working right NOW, but it's about to blow up...Chris is on the hunt) Chris' BBQ ...sad!  Oh, and my immune system. It has let a nasty bug in and I can't get rid of it!  Being in your third ...
