Halloween Festivities

With our recent Star Wars fascination these costumes were a must. I'm grateful to my sis, Camille, for making Finley's costume since she was already making one for Claire (twinners!) and my friend scooped up Brynn's Rey costume when she saw it on sale at the Disney store (major deal!). I scoured online for a BB-8 costume I liked and couldn't find one, so I set out to make my own. A little trial and error and it was perfect. So pleased when my creative ideas actually come out like I envision. The hippie costume was a little more work than planned since Paige and her BFF, Carys, wanted to tide dye, but we managed to work it out and scored at Value Village for all the accessories.   We had four or five events for Finley to wear her costume over the Halloween season and I finally figured out the Leia buns on the day it mattered...picture day! :) Finley was able to wear her costume to school this year, which was a first for our family! Paige turns ELEVEN!

My last of three fall birthdays (phew!!!). Paige turned ELEVEN!! Every year when my first born has a birthday it sounds soooo much older. Why is that?! She's so pleased to be older - this one is in a hurry to grow up.   She is a beauty inside and out.  This year is her off-year for a friend party. When we asked what she wanted to do as a family she decided we should go bowling! It is pretty awesome having your birthday on a Saturday!! We had soccer games that morning and time in the afternoon before she got to open presents and head out. She helped make her Texas Sheet Cake (her favorite).   She opened her big present from Chris and I before we left for soccer that morning.  She is so excited to learn the ukulele! We brought Georgia's chocolate donuts to her soccer game. We were the most popular family on that field that day. She even shared with some members of the opposing team (we knew quite a few of them, haha). ...

Brynn's Star Wars Party

Image
During our mid-winter break earlier this year, the girls and I watched all of the original Star Wars movies and then went to the theater to see the new one. As a result, this family is ga ga for Star Wars. Going to Disney helped fuel the love. Brynn is really into Rey and decided she wanted a Jedi Training/Star Wars-themed birthday party. The weekend of Brynn's party was supposed to be the "Storm of the Century." Literally, forecasters were predicting the worst storm we've had in over 60 years. We were a little nervous about her party that afternoon because the worst part of the storm was going to fall right during her party. If the power went out, it would have been too dark to play. So we rescheduled the party last minute for 12:30 (I think...). And because all of the soccer leagues in and around Seattle cancelled games for the weekend, everyone's day opened up! All of Brynn's friends were able to come! We had a great crew! After the k...
