November - Veteran's day + Thanksgiving + Other

I *typically* try to do something to remember the reason for Veteran's day.  I'm grateful our schools do a relatively nice job in honoring local veterans at their school assemblies, but it's always nice to do something at home as well. I decided to hop over with the girls to Yakima to pay Great-Grandma Apken a visit! I had just finished scanning another one of her photo books that I wanted to deliver and I asked if she would help us find some special family grave sites to pay tribute. It was a bitter cold day in Yakima...and it was funny (although not unexpected) that Finley didn't even bring a jacket. Thank goodness Great-Grandma had a hoodie sweatshirt she let Finley wear. Grandma Apken was able to join us for a bit as well, which was fun! We enjoyed lunch at Mod Pizza, a quick stop at Janet and Dennis' house where we hopped through the backyard and had a lovely visit with Great-Grandpa Hendricks and Grandma Ann. Soccer Madness - Fall 2018

We finally made it through our soccer season. Three kids in soccer again proves challenging, but not impossible and the girls were successful with their teams and improved over the weeks.  Finley and her team: King Bob and the Rainbow Warriors (yes, that is really her team name). I love that we got another year of mid-week games, which replaces practices once they start. Our Monday and Wednesday nights were a little nutty trying to juggle driving to the Ridge, sorting out dinner plans, and catching Chris before church responsibilities all by the ripe hour of 5-6pm, but it's all worth it because Finley is so fun to watch. She's aggressive and likes to score but is also becoming more defensive minded and hustling back to defend the goal when needed.   A gabby group of girls. Her coaches deserve major kudos for managing this crew. They were so patient and supportive all season long. Finley's games always had the best views (always catching a go...
