Apken Firsts

Image
Miss Brynn had her first taste of solid foods tonight...I thought she did pretty well if I say so myself. She may have got a teaspoon or two in her mouth. We're trying to stuff her so she'll sleep long and good... And Sweet Paige has finally figured out how to use the pedals on her bike. It's a miracle!! This has been a difficult concept for her. Last weekend she and dad went to pick out a helmet since she still hasn't quite figured out the steering and ends up on the pavement quite often. Baby steps, right?! (And yes, she is dressing herself. I don't want any fans up in arms about her wearing a Ute sweatshirt with a BYU t-shirt. Get over it people!)

Private....Grrr....

So...my loving husband is putting the kibosh on our public blog. I am going private at the beginning of April. I know it's inconvenient...but please, don't leave me...please!? I think I have email addresses for most of my readers, but in case you read and I don't know, please let me know. You can leave a comment, or if you'd rather, you can email me at: "apkenfam at gmail dot com" THANKS!

Girlie Madness

Image
So, yes, it's March Madness and we love that at our house. But I've also come to the realization about the girlie madness that is enveloping us. I haven't posted in a while, mostly because we aren't doing too much out of the ordinary. But we do have spurts of fun-ness and it makes me smile inside when I realize how girlie it all is. Here is mine and Paige's snowman from one of the March snowstorms (can they not GO AWAY already!!). We, of course, had to make a GIRL snowman complete with curly hair...you'll have to use a little of your imagination. And on St. Patty's Day we did everything GREEN. It's a difficult holiday/tradition to explain, so I just kept calling it 'Green Day'. At the end of the day while Paige and I were talking she said, "Can we have a PINK day?" So, yes, pink will have it's day...although, I think most days are pink anyway, which is obvious below... These were Brynn's first pigtails. Pink bows...of course!

Family Resemblance?

Here is each member of our family as close to six months as I could get. Any resemblance? Click to enlarge (L to R: Brynn, Paige, Charise, Chris)

Arm Update

Image
I saw my Orthopedist again yesterday. More x-rays and discussion about this arm of mine. The bone is almost healed, but still not quite. My 3-lb. weight limit will remain in effect until April 1st...grrr. This wasn't the best of news. He did see I had made improvement on my shoulder mobility and wants me to continue my PT once a week. I've been faithful about doing my exercises at home and can really tell a difference. I have had some pain right along where the arm was broken and he said it's probably from the BIG screw. He said it will irratate some people and we could see about having it removed down the road. I didn't ask what that would entail, but we'll see if I can live with it for now. If you don't remember how BIG it really is, check out my post with the x-rays here . I can even feel it through my skin...ewww, gross. I desperately want to wakeboard Memorial Day weekend. It's been the light at the end of the tunnel for me and motivated me to work hard...

Beautiful Brynn (4 months old)

Image
My amazing and talented photographer friend, Kali, took pics of Brynn last week. They are breathtaking and give me such joy. If you are looking for a patient, talented, creative, fun and meticulous photographer, visit her website (click here) and hire her! I am thrilled for her to do a family shoot when the weather warms (and after she has her baby!). (P.S. She did these photographs 8 mos prego. If she can get these amazing shots while crawling around with a belly, imagine how great she is when the belly is not an issue!)
