Thanksgiving in Ridgefield, WA

Image
We celebrated Thanksgiving in Ridgefield this year at my brother and SIL's new beautiful house. We were so excited to spend some extended time with them! In preparation I had the girls fill out their "Tickets to Thanksgiving" - lists of of things they are grateful for. Some years we do better at our Thanksgiving prep than others and this was one of those last minute sort of years. We drove down on Wednesday afternoon with the rest of the Seattle exodus, but it was worth it once we arrived and had a fun evening all together with Pettingills too. Cousin heaven!  Thursday the moms were up and had a busy morning of prep, but it's fun to be together! The funny moment of the day was realizing we cooked the turkey upside down, which is quite hilarious since between the three of us we've cooked over 20 turkeys. Hah. But turns out, it makes the breast super moist and it was so yummy!  While the moms were in the kitchen, the kids and dads were up to their regular s...

Noteworthy Fall Events

Amidst the turn of the seasons, we had a few fun events to document... Chris and I took the middle two girls to Husky Stadium for a football game. It was a pretty rainy game, but we were right in the area where the cover begins, so we had a bit of a reprieve from the rain (until the second half and the winds shifted). These two girls had such a blast. They got stadium dinner, a special treat, loads of attention from the adults sitting around us, and a serendipitous ride home on the bus, because they got seats in the accordion part of the bus! One Sunday afternoon after church we got snow! The girls hurried outside to play in it before it was gone!  Paige attended the temple for the first time! This was a sweet experience for our family. Chris and I were both there and it was particularly sweet to see her partake in the Spirit that exists there. Here she is with her friend, Aloha. Veteran's Day at the Museum of Flight. This is becoming a bit of an ...

Soccer Season x 3

Image
Another three-team season of soccer. It was a little crazy, to say the least, but a wonderful season of growth and learning. So proud of these girls' progress! Finley's games were still mid-week, which helps with our scheduling a bit. Finley was on a super stacked team (12 kids...only 3 play at a time, yikes!), which means less playing time. She's my third kid so we are fine to just roll with the punches. Her poor coach had a hard enough time just managing the sideline while the game was ongoing.  Busy busy 5-year old bodies! Most of the time the coaches worked it out to have four players for each team on the field, which meant more playing time but more "bunch" ball.  Brynn was with Coach Eric for another great season. I love when the girls have a history of playing together and you see the growth in all the girls. Brynn really settled into the forward position more this season and had a high goal count. Her speed is her number one advantage ...
