We Have Pets

Image
Don't get too excited...it is three fish...which has quickly downsized to two ...and will inevitably be zero within a few days. Here is Paige with the two fish...although you can't see them, they are hiding at the bottom. Paige could hardly contain herself when we drove to pick them up after they had fulfilled their jobs as wedding reception centerpieces. I let Paige name them. She rambled off 6 or 7 made-up names, but this is what she settled on (I had her write them down because I would totally forget):  . Translation: Chevy, Larb and Sap We think Larb died the second night. But for all I know it could have been Chevy...or Sap... No matter how long they survive, it's been a fun change this week. Paige literally lays on her stomach on the kitchen counter talking to them, and Brynn said, "fishy" the other night. Don't say I deprive my kids...this is the next best thing to a dog, for sure!

We are Fam-i-ly!

We made a trip to Yakima for the wedding reception of Kasey and Amber (Kasey is Chris' cousin). It was a pleasure meeting his adorable new wife. They are cute and gooey and happy! (I don't know how I didn't get a pic of them...I've stolen this off my SIL's blog who was at their actual wedding...thx Dani!)                At the reception, Brynn adored the chocolate ice cream, as evidenced below. I told Paige she could eat as many donut holes as she wanted. She ate about 10 and decided that was enough. I just kept giggling as she ate more...we share a love for donuts.    Saturday was "leisure" time and a chance for the cousins to reconnect. Joci and Holden were visiting from CA (Uncle Lane's kiddos) and we so enjoyed their company. Lots of activities were in store. Here they are rolling snickerdoodles: And coloring flower masks.  Paige is just getting to the "color in between the lines" stage. The finished pr...

Auntie Visits

Image
Auntie visits are the best...especially when they are coming for job interviews and get hired on the first day. This means two extra days to play!! Aunt Dani was like a personal nanny/college roommate for a few days.  She helped so much with the kids, didn't mind when I made grilled cheese for dinner, and stayed up with me until 3am chit-chatting. She and Paige stayed up late for a "slumber party" watching a movie in bed with popcorn.  Life doesn't get any better. She was even patient enough to drive to Centralia for a family meet-in-the-middle lunch at Burgerville. (Paige is taking pics) But life does get better...with this new job, it means Aunt Dani and Uncle Matt are moving to Seattle! She's promised monthly evenings to my girls and even though it will be utter torture to part with my kiddos for an evening, I think I'll manage! Thanks for a fun few days, Dani!

Easter Festivities

Image
We had a wonderful Easter...we invited ourselves to my Bro and Sis-in-laws house for the weekend. They were good sports for letting us come play. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend watching General Conference ("watch" is a relative term with kiddos around) and cramming in lots of Easter festivities!  Beck and I did not want our kids to miss out! Dying Eggs: Waiting for the little pills to dissolve...quite enthralling!   Cousin Ty...so cute! Brynn freaked.  Note to self, she's also afraid of egg-dye. Beck got crazy on us...making wild designs. Next!  Decorating cookies. We did this before dinner and realized our mistake after our kids had devoured a few cookies each. Awesome. Easter morning after the great egg race. They look like they are headed to prison...and by the looks of it, Ty might be riding his basket to prison. T hey did enjoy it, I promise ! Brynn did a little less hunting for eggs and was more into opening and devouring the candy as quickly as possi...

Miss Paige

Image
Paige is now 4 1/2 years old.  And man oh man, this girl is funny.  Today is Paige's turn in the spotlight... I keep wondering if we will see Paige on Oprah in 30 years because she's a compulsive hoarder. It's amazing what she gathers into her bed between the time we say goodnight and before she finally drifts off to sleep. I've been keeping a list of things I find in her bed. Here is a pic from just one night: Here is a list of things I've found in her bed on four separate occasions: chinese fan play kitchen bowl filled with coins 2 old bottles of brynn's milk 10-key calculator house keys all barrets from bathroom endless tissues, used Hidden pile of dirty clothes Old cell phone old tv remote Every single washcloth from her bathroom Chinese takeout menu Chris' old walkman Stereo and cd flashlight my glasses  my scriptures map of Vancouver, BC keychain from Burien Chevrolet spare change matchbox car notebook/pen bag for primary bib/washcloth for ba...
